Sometimes no matter how far we’ve come it is so important to take a step back and revisit some attitudes we have kept along the way. Some can stay if they serve us well, but others, like an old pair of shoes, can be discarded and tucked away out of sight.
We have to move forward. If I have learned anything on this journey through my own mental illness, it is to get out of my head and get into life. Give yourself so much love. Maybe that means you take a shower today, or get outside and take a few deep breaths, but you owe it to your one true self to start taking care of YOU.
Optimize your health. Figure out your why. Think of encounters that deposit into your energy account and how you can structure your day to include more of these activities.
Be clear on your intentions, communicate them well, and generate energy toward your goals. Release any tension with mindfulness practice.
Brene Brown talks about how people don’t know how to ask for what they need but are really good at being resentful or disappointed that they didn’t get it. I’m working to improve my communication, my asks, to avoid this conundrum.
Trust in your core beliefs. Value your mind, body and soul. Use mine or generate your own. Write them, study them and post them all over your house to come back to when life throws a lemon.
I will not jump into the pool of struggle, as my empathy has boundaries.
I will honour your truth and perspective.
I will trust that everyone is, in fact, trying their best.
I know that I add value and am courageous.
I am in charge of the energy I bring.”
